"...I hoped to not only share my truth but wanted to inspire other young people to do the same..."
When I was 13 I realized that blog writing and journaling helped me feel more like myself and allowed me to track and reflect on my growth. By creating Just Me Rosalie I hoped to not only share my truth but wanted to inspire other young people to do the same, and meet them wherever they were on their journey to owning themselves. I know that I definitely have a long way to go to feel completely confident in who I am, but I have grown to understand not to wait for that day but to own and find comfort in what brought me to this exact point in my life, and to find confidence in my present self.
Being mixed race, I have found it hard to find places where I not only fit in, but feel like I am enough just being me and nothing more. Growing up I believed that I had to change the way I was to find comfort in different communities, but I now have found people, places and a sense of self worth that shows me that all I have to be is authentic and be confident in my culture and my family's heritage.
Just Me Rosalie has always been a space where I could express myself creatively and allow others to take a moment to just be.
